Kurz gesagt
- Scans happen where people wait: bars, entrances and tables.
- Eye level and good contrast beat big and fancy.
- One short line above the code is enough.
A QR code in a good spot gets scanned all night. In a bad spot it gets ignored. Placement matters more than design, and it is free to improve.
Start with the bar
People stand still at the bar, with a phone in hand, looking for something to do. A sign there is the easiest scan you will get. Ask the venue if you may place a small stand or card.
Use the entrance
Guests arriving see the sign before they have a drink in their hand. This is good for events where you want requests early, such as weddings and private parties.
Put signs on tables
At seated events, small cards on tables work well. Guests are relaxed and have time to scan. Keep the text short and the code large enough to scan from a normal arm's length.
- Table cards for weddings and dinners
- Stands at the bar for clubs and pubs
- A large sign near the booth for festivals
Mind lighting and angles
Dark rooms and glossy paper cause scan failures. Choose matte paper, light the sign if possible and avoid putting it behind glass. Test from a normal standing distance.
Use a screen if you have one
A screen behind you or beside the dance floor can show your code in a big room. Make sure it stays on screen long enough to scan and does not flicker.

How many QR signs do I need?
Two to four for most rooms: the bar, the entrance and near the booth. Add table cards for seated events.
Should I put the code on my DJ booth front?
Yes, if it is lit and at eye level. Do not rely on it alone.
