En resumen
- Guests tip when it is easy, quick and tied to a good moment.
- A QR code on a sign beats a jar nobody can find.
- Thank the person who tipped. It is the cheapest way to get more tips.
Most guests who enjoy a DJ would happily tip, but few carry cash and fewer know how. Tipping is mostly a friction problem. When it takes ten seconds on a phone, more people do it.
Make tipping easy
Guests should be able to tip from their phone without searching for your name. A QR code that opens a page where they can pick an amount and send is the simplest route. Fewer steps means more tips.
Tie it to a moment
People tip when something just made them happy: a request played, a great transition, a singalong. Build those moments, and make sure the sign is visible when they happen.
Say thank you in public
A quick word from the booth, such as thank you to the table at the back for the song, makes the guest feel seen. Others notice and think about doing the same.
Offer boosts as an option
A boosted request lets a guest pay a little to move their song up your list. You still decide what to play. For guests, it is a small way to get attention for a song that matters to them.
- Keep the amounts simple
- Never promise a song will play
- Say thanks to boosters like any other tip
Put the sign in the right places
Near the bar, by the entrance and next to the booth. Include one simple line, such as Tip your DJ or Request a song. Avoid long text.

Is it rude to ask for tips as a DJ?
No, if you stay low-key. A sign with a simple line is polite and lets guests decide.
Do tips go straight to me?
Tips and boosts go to your DJ profile. MyWeeshy keeps a small commission.
